MARINA'S STORY

Marina grew up in Helsinki – Finland. She studied business abroad, including international economics, marketing and psychology. At the age of 24 she founded an international incentive and leadership house. Altogether, Marina acquired over 25 years of international work experience.

Marina is proud of the Finnish Story of perseverance (sisu) and she is confident on sharing and educating Finnish traditions and business culture to international partners. At the same time, Marina aims to introduce an outside perspective to Finnish companies with international business culture.

The main role of Marina working at United Diaspora is to be a connector and an enabler: of talent, tolerance and collaboration. She will continue to serve as a bridge between cultures.

In order to develop the platform further, she will be the main representative in the European Union for the projects that can benefit the European – African connection. Her presence in Finland will promote culture exchange and a collaborations among Finnish entities, people in diaspora and communities in need.

A counsellor and a mentor

Marina worked internationally for many years creating her own synthesis of professional healing tools. Her methods incorporate psychosynthesis, symbols, gestalt, system thinking, healing storytelling and family constellation. She specialises in the needs of immigrants and multicultural couples, but provides therapy and counseling services to individuals and couples in general.

Currently, she also conducts periodic workshops, entitled “Recreate your Story”, which combines elements of Psychosynthesis, narrative therapy and other psychological methods. The workshop’s program stimulates mindful thinking for healing, by acknowledging the needs of the participants in their own story.

People should be allowed to work in the best of their abilities. Only a little help will go a long way. This work enables me to work with diversity and to experience African culture. I can develop projects where people feel empowered and work with purpose.

I believe that Finnish businesses would benefit from more exposure to diversity. Sierra Leone’s culture of tolerance is a good avenue to apply transcultural skills and for collaborating in real projects with meaningful social impact. Because of their history, Sierra Leone’s culture has developed ways to fight war and the polarization of fundamentalist beliefs through practices of inclusion that promote community engagement.
